What is this?
We'll meet at Old School Forest Preserve at 28285 N. St. Marys Road, Libertyville at 8:00 a.m. When you turn into the forest preserve entrance, DON'T park right away at the very small lot at the entrance. Follow the road to the right and park at the next lot on the right. If you look at the map on the link below, the parking lot is by shelter B. There is a bathroom at that lot, but no other bathrooms on the route.
The proposed route is one loop of the yellow trail in the forest preserve and then head south on the Des Plaines River Trail until we reach the flooded underpass at Route 60, then turn around and head back. Depending on whether we take the short way or long way back on the yellow trail, the route is about 7 or 8 miles. If you want to just walk or run the yellow loop, it's 2.6 miles. If you want to add miles, you can head north on the Des Plaines River Trail until you hit another flooded part about 1.5 miles north.
