Every year in October, the Alpine Runners volunteer at the first aid station at the Chicago Marathon at the first mile along State Street. The station is an up-close vantage point to see elite runners come through, and then help runners keep hydrated from all over the world. The jacket swag is worth the early morning shift! After cleanup, volunteers are free to go, or can view the marathon from other locations to watch runners.
